Apple jam is quick and easy to make yourself.

For six 200-milliliter jars, you will need 1.5 apples. Tart varieties such as Boskoop, Elstar, or Jonagold are best. Cinnamon gives the jam a special aroma.

Ingredients:

1.5 kg apples
, 500-700 g preserving sugar (2:1 or 3:1, depending on desired sweetness),
juice of one lemon.
Optional: one teaspoon of cinnamon or two to three cloves.
Preparation:

Wash, peel, core, and dice the apples.
Place the apple pieces in a large pot with the lemon juice and simmer over medium heat for about ten minutes, or until soft.
