Homemade Apple Jam: An Authentic and Delicious Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of apples (Golden Delicious, Gala or Reinette, fully ripe)
  • 700g of granulated sugar (or special jam sugar)
  • 1 lemon (juice + a little zest)
  • 1 vanilla pod (optional but enhances the aroma)
  • 10 cl of water

Preparation Steps

1. Prepare the Apples

Wash, peel, and core the apples. Cut them into small, even pieces. Immediately sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent oxidation.

2. First Baking

Place the pieces in a large saucepan. Add the water, sugar, lemon zest, and, if desired, the split vanilla pod. Gently bring to a boil, then simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes, until the apples are tender.

3. Blend or Crush

Remove the vanilla pod. Lightly blend or mash with a potato masher according to the desired texture (smooth or chunky).
