Why do skin tags appear and how can they be removed?

Widely used in aromatherapy, it has cleansing properties. Apply a few drops to a cotton ball, secure it with a bandage over the growth, and leave it on for 10 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day. Results may appear in a few days or weeks. Avoid using on sensitive areas, such as the eyelids.

Apple cider vinegar
: Soak a cotton ball and apply it to the affected area for 10 minutes, twice a day. It can dry out the growth, but be careful if you have sensitive skin: vinegar can cause minor irritation or burns. Do not apply to broken skin.

Fresh Ginger
: Ginger, a natural antibacterial agent, also has drying and stimulating properties. Cut a thin slice of fresh ginger root and gently rub it on the growth for one minute. Repeat this two to three times a day. Over time, the ginger may help the growth gradually dry out. This method is simple and carries no risk of serious irritation, but it does require regular use.

Freezing kits available at pharmacies:
Inspired by cryotherapy used by dermatologists, these products promise to "freeze" the growth so that it falls off. Follow the instructions carefully and protect the surrounding skin with a greasy product, such as petroleum jelly. Effectiveness varies depending on the product.

Special creams:
Some over-the-counter creams work on dead skin. Note: Avoid creams containing irritants, such as salicylic acid. Never use these products near the eyes or on irritated skin.

Methods to avoid

Cutting your own hair:
Scissors, nail clippers, or a razor blade? Avoid them. The risk of infection, bleeding, and poorly placed scarring is too high, especially without consulting a doctor. If the skin tag is located on the face or genitals, this is absolutely not recommended. In some cases, a dermatologist's opinion is necessary.

If the skin tag is painful, bleeding, or changing in appearance;
if the skin tag is large or located near the eyes or genitals;
if you are taking blood thinning medication;
or if you simply want a quick, clean removal under medical supervision,
the doctor may offer you a minor procedure: thread ligation, medical cryotherapy, or excision under local anesthesia. The problem is resolved in a few minutes, with minimal risk.

Taking care of your skin also means listening to what it's trying to tell you.
A small gesture can be enough to regain comfort and confidence, provided it's done safely.
